It seems the team Bethesda is back again to try to make up for the piece of garbage they called Oblivion (ok it wasn’t that bad). They try to make up for this by coming out with the game fallout 3 for the Xbox 360. This is a game which takes place in a post nuclear apocalypse in America (Washington d.c). Now before I tell you why this game disappointed me, let me make my position clear. As far as RPGs go this game is probably by far the best on the 360 right now. It earns this title with the masterful beginning where you come out the womb and from there on live out your childhood to decide your type of character and to learn how to play the game. This unique combination makes the annoyance of learning a new system completely bearable. The most fun I had in the game since was in this beginning chapter. Then fallout finally lets you explore its giant world and I must say it is pretty lengthy. Not lengthy in the terms of Morrowind, but for a post apocalyptic future it’s not too shabby. There are so many great things about this game, but a distinct few popped out at me. First, the V.A.T.S. system allows you to target a specific body part on a person and have your character try to shoot them with a certain percentage. The characters in the game are so extensive and deep that you can miss several story lines by only playing the once. And finally the emersion. Yes, Fallout makes you feel as if you are in post apocalyptic America. How does this feel? Epic. Trust me you haven’t lived until you go around rounding up people as slaves and then subsequently freeing them right after, forcing them to run into their own deaths. This game is great, but don’t listen to what others say it’s not perfect. The difficulty curve is so unfair. You will constantly find yourself running into enemies that you shouldn’t even be seeing at your level. It can also be glitch filled when at times a certain action could cause you to ruin a story line forever. But these blemishes are nothing compared to the greatness achieved by this game. Trust me this game is good. It’s that simple. Buy it, there is no excuse not too (unless you hate RPGs). Those who hate this game hate life. End of story.
